We will start this day trip in “Monte Faito” from where we will walk up on a very panoramic path to "Croce della Conocchia"(1316 metres above sea level) once at the top, we can quite easily reach " Monte San Michele " (1444m asl) from which you can enjoy an uninterrupted 360° view of the gulfs of Salerno and Naples, the Vesuvius and the “Campania” hinterland.
This is without any doubt the most panoramic and charming point of the Amalfi coast! To go back to our starting point, we will come down the northern side of the mountain stopping at a natural water spring. Duration of this trip: 4 hours + 45 minutes drive to Monte Faito.
Degree of difficulty: Medium to High (the full walk is at reasonably high altitudes with some steep terrain and around 3 hours of walking. The main advantage is that the starting point is already at almost 1000m asl so there is not much more altitude to walk up to the top of the mountain).
Especially recommended for those who want to fully enjoy the uninterrupted views, which are only possible from mountain peaks.
Bring along your camera for some spectacular pictures and some water to stay hydrated. Please also insure that you wear comfortable trekking shoes and wear sunglasses and some sunscreen. For those expert Trekkers out there, it is also possible to leave from Montepertuso walking up to “Castagnole” and the “National park station” (763m
asl) from where, a very steep path takes us to "Croce della Conocchia" and " Monte San Michele " (see above for more details) On the way down we can Detour via “Santa Maria al Castello” (659m asl located right above Positano) from where we can reach Positano in a little less than an hour using the “Tese” path Duration of this trip is approx 6/7 hours and the degree of difficulty is High mainly because of the long walk to the top.
There is a very high level of personal satisfaction at the end of this walk.
